Then you read it; it’s excellent. The best work on coding that I’ve ever read in fact.
What Hoffmann has done is take the old Second Sight structure and aggressively simplify the part that normally kills these things dead: usability.
The real strength here is that the performers barely need to move.
No fishing.
No procedural language.
No obvious cueing.
No “Please hand me the object in your left hand while I casually clear my throat seventeen times.”
The standout idea is probably the emotional framing. Hoffmann repeatedly positions the act less as coded communication and more as evidence of genuine connection between two people. Husband and wife.
